The Mercury Bar, located on 3rd Avenue between 33rd and 34th Streets, is the host to the University of Alabama Alumni Association's football parties each week of the season. The feeling is as close to sweet home Alabama as a fan can get in Manhattan. They hand out crimson and white shakers at the door, and choruses of "Roll Tide" are heard throughout the game by nearly two hundred former Tuscaloosans a week.
The drink specials are good, with $4 Bud and Bud Lites and $4 well drinks for people watching the game (and how could you not be watching the game?). The appetizers are tasty (I prefer the nachos.) And the team spirit is unmistakable, especially during 200-Saban.
For any SEC fan, this is the place to be to catch a run down of all the scores and to catch a glimpse of the future 2007 Conference Champs.
